SUKKUR, July 3: The city and adjoining areas were cut off from the rest of the country for approximately two and a half hours after telephone network collapsed on Sunday evening due to low voltage in the main exchange.
Almost the entire phone network in the city went out of order at about 4:30pm on Sunday which was restored at about 7:00pm.
The deputy general manager of the STR-V, Sukkur, Abdul Jabbar Ansari, told this correspondent that the system was disrupted due to low voltage by Hesco.
He said standby generator started automatically and the load was shifted to batteries but it failed to start the system.
Later, a Siemens engineer was contacted in Hyderabad who helped to energize the system one by one and finally the system was fully restored after a lapse of about two and half hours.
He said the system was now working smoothly.
ACCIDENT: A man was killed seven others injured in two separate road accidents near Rohri on Saturday night.
Four people including Shaban Bhatti and Razzaq Mohammadani were on their way to Pano Akil.
When they reached near the Soofan Buriro village on the National Highway their car overturned.
As a result, Shaban Bhatti died on the spot while Razzaq was injured.
