THE WEEK THAT WAS
Koi Chand Rakh | ARY Digital, Thursdays 8.00pm
After his new wife Nishal (Areeba Habib) succeeds in manipulating husband Zain (Imran Abbas) against his mum, the couple goes off on a year-long honeymoon. They return to find that Nishal is still as insecure as ever about their relationship. Zain receives a letter from Nishal’s brother Umair (Muneeeb Butt), explaining how Zain’s first wife Rabail’s sisterly feelings for Umair were misconstrued by Zain, and that it was Nishal behind all the trouble between Rabail and Zain.
Pretty boy Zain realises the mess he has gotten himself into from pandering to Nishal’s whims and fancies, and decides to abandon her and live with his first wife Rabail (Ayeza Khan) and his baby daughter. Rabail, who is stronger and more self-reliant than before, makes it quite clear to Zain that he cannot wear and discard her like a piece of clothing. Can’t wait to see what Nishal’s next move will be.
Mere Hum Dum | Hum TV, Tuesdays 8.00pm
Warda (Sarah Khan) literally bumps into good guy Usama (Syed Jibran) as she heads for a job interview. Predictably enough, she gives him a piece of her mind but soon finds out that he is one of the interviewers. Of course, the boss (Khalid Bin Shaheen) likes her so much that he not only hires her the very next day but also selects her as a potential wife for his careless son Haaris (Goher Mumtaz), who sleeps late and has no interest in his father’s business.
While Usama and Warda cultivate a friendship, at the office annual dinner Haaris’ family meets Warda and approves of her as a prospective bahu. Chutt mangni, putt biyah and poor Usama is left in the lurch. But there is something that bothers Warda about the compelling phone calls Haaris gets way too often.
What To Watch Out For
Mohini Mansion Ki Cinderellayein | Bol, Mondays 8.00pm
While Daro Maasi (Feryal Gauher) in her ridiculous get-up and inimitable Seraiki accent continues to harass and blame the older women of Mohini Mansion of carrying on with Mukhtaran’s (Tahira Imam) young tenant Uzair (Sardar Nabeel), Shabana Jharna (filmstar Shabnam) tells her off. Kali (Hira Khan) damages her face once again by using some bad fairness cream and Billi (Hina Shahid) goes to Uzair to tell him what a snob he is for not responding to her overt come-hither innuendoes.
Shamama (Rubya Chaudhry) agrees to marry the aging TV producer Urfi (Shaukatt Zaidi) but during their rendezvous at the Pak Tea House, Urfi’s wife catches him red-handed and drags him off. This comes as a blow to Shamama’s future plans. Crisp comedy, plausible situations and realistic yet imaginative characters keep this serial one of the season’s best offerings.
