SWABI: A large number of spectators gathered to witness the final match of a Kabaddi tournament, played between Kunda and Zaida teams here on Monday.
The final was held at Bamkhel, the village which is popular for arranging such tournaments every year. Teams from all over the district participated in the competition.
Sultan Bacha, an international umpire, was specially invited to supervise the match.
The district police had made extraordinary security arrangements to hold the competition peacefully, which started a month ago.
Usually the contest started at noon and continued till late night but the final matched was held earlier to provide an opportunity of entertainment to the people.
The organisers faced difficulty while managing the rush of people in the final match.
At the start of the match, it was declared that the team which scored first 40 points would be declared the winner.
However, when the points reached to 34, Kunda team gradually built its lead and finally reached the wining point while Zaida team remained trapped at 34 points.
The winning team members lauded the people’s support and demanded that such competitions should be organised frequently.
They said the government and the district administration’s support was critical for holding such competitions.
