1 dead, 13 injured in head-on collision between metro buses in Lahore

A head-on collision between two metro buses near Gajju Mata, Lahore on Monday left a university student dead and 13 others injured, a rescue official told DawnNewsTV.

Closed-circuit TV (CCTV) camera footage of the incident showed two buses approaching from opposite sides before ramming into each other.

Rescue 1122 officials arrived at the scene and helped evacuate the injured from the buses.

As a result of the accident, 22-year-old Ammara Mubeen, a student of the University of Education who was on her way to the varsity, lost her life.

The injured, according to the rescue team's spokesperson, were shifted to Lahore General Hospital (LGH) for treatment.

A first information report (FIR) of the incident was filed against the two buses' drivers on the complaint of the deceased student at Nishtar Colony police station.

The complainant, in the FIR, stated that the two drivers were speeding and driving recklessly, which transpired into the accident and claimed his sister's life on the spot.
