HYDERABAD, July 6: Sindh Minister for Education Dr Hameeda Khuhro has announced that all teachers appointed on contract basis will continue in service. Talking to a delegation of the Primary Teachers’ Association (PTA), Sindh, which called on her at the circuit house here Wednesday, she said the regularization cases of teachers had been moved to quarters concerned but due to intervention of teachers association they could not materialize.

She said the matter had again been taken up with authorities and would hopefully be approved by them.

She said the education department had planned to organize two conferences to ascertain and identify the main hurdles and short-comings in improving the standard of education.

She said the large participation of teaching community would make the conference a grand success.

She said the department was also introducing internal checks and balances system to ensure efficient service delivery by the teaching community.

Referring to the demand of children’s quota, she assured that matter would be considered sympathetically.

Dr Khuhro said absence of teachers from their schools was the main complaint being received from society.

She said the teachers deserved respect but the children also had their rights.

She stressed upon the PTA to concentrate on the quality of education and avoid strike or agitation.

The president of the PTA, Mr Rafique Jarwar, and general secretary Syed Ghalib Shah told the minister about the problems of the teachers and assured that they would do their best to improve the quality of education in the province.
