HARIPUR: The Human Development Organisation (HDO), a non-profit entity, on Friday donated laboratory kits and an ultrasound machine to Haripur jail hospital.

Member Supreme Court’s Oversight Committee on jail and human rights activist, Sadaqat Khan, handed over the ultrasound machine, two examination couches, a centrifugal machine, boxes of laboratory kits used for diagnosis of different diseases like HIV, malaria, typhoid and others, to jail superintendent Maqsood Khan.

On the occasion, medical superintendent of jail hospital, Dr Ayaz, member oversight committee Jawad Habib Advocate, and others were also in attendance.

Mr Sadaqat said due to lack of proper diagnostic facilities the treatment of jail inmates was not possible, adding the laboratory equipment would help offer better healthcare to the prisoners.

On behalf of HDO, he assured the jail administration of more support in future.

On the occasion, the jail superintendent thanked the HDO’s administration and expressed the hope that the donation of ultrasound and other diagnostic articles would improve the treatment facilities for jail inmates.
