KOHAT: The police on Sunday arrested 84 Afghan refugees for violating ban on their entry into the city.

The deputy commissioner had banned their entry into the city from March 1 till March 10 under section 144. But the refugees were violating the orders and carrying out their businesses in the city.

District police officer Wahid Mehmood ordered a crackdown on them after which 84 of them were rounded up from the jurisdictions of different police stations. The respective police stations registered cases against them under section 188 of PPC and sent them to prison.

Meanwhile, the police increased patrolling in the district and expedited strike and strategic operations. The operational police, including elite force, conducted operations and kept watch on the activities of suspicious people, according to a press release.
