KARACHI: With a thumping 6-0 win in the final, DHL won the right to represent Pakistan in an event that will by played at Anfield — the home ground of English giants Liverpool.

Coming out on top in a five-on-five 23-team corporate football tournament that concluded on Saturday here at the Karachi United stadium, the winners —who beat Engro — will advance to the finals of the Standard Chartered Road To Anfield Trophy where the national winners from Hong Kong, Korea, India, Bangladesh, Ghana, Kenya and the UK will take part.

The local tournament, as well the international eight-team tournament, is being organised by Standard Chartered Bank, the main club sponsors of Liverpool.

The international tournament will be played on May 13 at Anfield, a day after the Premier League season ends.

By that time, the Anfield could have seen a massive title party. In a Premier League race that is expected to go right down to the wire, Liverpool trail Manchester City by a point with nine rounds of matches to go. They face Wolverhampton Wanderers in their final game of the league season on May 12. The participants of all the eight competing teams at the Road to Anfield will be present at the iconic venue to witness that game.
