AWARD: Deputy Commissioner Shozeb Saeed on Sunday awarded an honorary shield along with US $1,000 to a woman polio worker.

The monetary award has been given to Ms Zahida on behalf of a team of the International Health Organization (IHO) for her best performance during the anti-polio campaign despite the fact that she was injured during the drive. The DC also gave away commendation certificates to several other polio workers for their contribution.

District Coordinator (Prevention of Polio) Dr Zakir Ali said the district was declared polio-free after two samples from different sewerage disposals had been obtained and analysed.
