SWABI: A man and his nephew were shot dead by their neighbours after exchange of hot words in Ismalia village of Razaar tehsil on Sunday, police said.

The officials said Shah Said and his nephew, Islam Bacha, were attacked by their rivals when they were in their fields. Both of them died on the spot.

SHO Kalu Khan police station Khalid Iqbal told Dawn that the bodies were brought to the Kalu Khan civil hospital for postpartum.

He said the police had raided the houses of the attackers after receiving information, but they quickly changed their locations to avoid arrest. He said cause of the incident was a verbal brawl early in the morning.

Muddasir, brother of deceased Islam Bacha, registered an FIR against Abid Khan, Hanif Khan and Nasir Khan.

MAN SEEKS HELP: A poverty-stricken man has appealed to local politicians and philanthropists for generous financial assistance to help him treat his six-year-old daughter who is suffering from eye cancer.

Hina, the elder daughter of Mohammad Islam, has already lost her both eyes to cancer, and his younger daughter, Sumera, is also suffering from the same fatal disease.

The ill-fated family belongs to Yar Hussain village. Mr Islam said despite his continued struggle he could not manage money for his daughters’ treatment.

Talking to Dawn on Sunday, he said he made all-out efforts for treatment of his 14-year-old daughter, Hina, but failed, and the doctors had to remove both her eyes because there was no option.

“For Sumera’s treatment I have visited numerous hospitals and met with doctors, but to no avail because treatment is too expensive,” he said.

Islam said he had also visited Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Peshawar, but the doctors did not express readiness to treat his sick daughter. “I have observed that without money no doctor is ready to treat my daughter,” he said.

Hina, who was also present on the occasion, said Sumera helped her whenever she wanted to walk, but if she also lost her eyes like her then they would be completely dependent on their mother because their father always remained out to earn a living for them.
