MINGORA: Commissioner Malakand division Riaz Khan Mahsud has directed the tehsil municipal officer to shift Mingora bus stand to the newly-constructed bus terminal by April 30. He also asked the TMO to shift the fruit and vegetable market to the newly-constructed facility.

Mr Mahsud directed the contractor the other day to give the construction final shape before April 30 and stressed the relevant officials to ensure transfer of the bus terminal to the new area so that people could get proper transport facilities.

“The people have been facing difficulties in getting public transport facilities and I am sure that they will be facilitated at the new bus terminal for which I expect the relevant officials would ensure smooth service,” he said.

He said that planning for restoring the natural beauty of Mingora city was in progress and soon a roadmap would be designed to cope with the traffic rush.

He said that the bus stand and vegetable market were the hub of businesses so designated venues would improve the business activities in Swat.

The commissioner also visited the proposed site for dumping waste and garbage where he was briefed by WSSC CEO Mohammad Shaida who said that land requisition for the site had been completed.

Mr Mahsud ordered the official to expedite work on the dumping site and complete it within eight months. He said that environmental pollution was affecting Malakand division and warned that legal action would be taken against the authorities not working for maintaining natural beauty in their jurisdictions.
