HARIPUR: A boy was strangled after sexual assault in Khanpur area, police said here on Friday.

Police claimed to have arrested the accused on identification of the victim’s father.

Khanpur police quoted Mohammad Nawaz of Marchabad village as saying that his son, 7, a student of 2nd grade, went missing on Thursday evening and the area people spotted his body in the bushes outside the village on Friday morning.

The complainant nominated a teenage boy, a close relative, for assault and murder of his son.

Meanwhile, RPO Hazara Mohammad Ali Khan Babakhel told a press conference that the police had arrested the accused, who had confessed to the crime during initial investigations.

According to a handout issued in Islamabad on Friday, Mr Malik asked the home minister and chief secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to submit a report of the incident. The provincial police chief was also asked to submit a report over the horrific incident.
