QUETTA: Armed men shot dead a prayer leader and another person and injured two others in the hujra of a mosque in the Goharabad area of the provincial capital late on Saturday night.

According to the police, the gunmen entered the hujra of Masjid-i-Nabvi and opened indiscriminate fire, killing prayer leader Maulana Abdul Hayee Mengal and Abdul Aziz Sasoli. Two other people suffered serious injuries.

Soon after the incident, police and FC personnel reached the area and took bodies and the injured to civil hospital. The injured were identified as Zafarullah and Noorullah.

A case was registered against unknown killers. Investigation is under way.
