LARKANA: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has urged women to actively participate in welfare and women development programmes and help him in his struggle for making Pakistan a prosperous and developed country.
Speaking at a function to distribute soft loan cheques among women under the Sindh Rural Support Organisation programme at Naudero House on Monday, he said it was only the PPP that had promised in its manifesto to empower women through welfare programmes.
The PPP chairman said his mother and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto had trained him to respect women and strive for their betterment.
He criticised the federal government for its intention to close the Benazir Income Support Programme. He said how anyone could dare to remove the name of Benazir Bhutto in the presence of brave women in the country as she lives in every house of Pakistan.
Mr Bhutto-Zardari said after coming to power again the PPP would launch Wasila-i-Sehat Card along with Wasila-i-Rozgar Card.
The PPP chairman said the Sindh Rural Support Organisation with the support of the provincial government was playing an effective and constructive role for women’s progress in remote areas.
Among other leaders, PPP Sindh president Nisar Khuhro and MPA Faryal Talpur also attended the function.
