SWABI: Senior members of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F on Monday boycotted the election for the slots of party’s district chief and general secretary as the split in the party seems to be deepening further in Swabi after the elections for the tehsil chapters were also boycotted by the leaders denied tickets.
When the election process began, provincial naib emir Maulana Attaulhaq Darvaish, Mufti Chand Bacha and their supporters decided to stay away from the election.
Maulana Darvaish, who wanted to contest election for the district emir’s slot, and Mufti Bacha for general secretary, said some prominent leaders who rendered sacrifices for the party did not have the voting right, thus making the process non-transparent and forcing them to boycott it.
The rival group is led by party’s central naib emir Maulana Fazal Ali and Noor Islam. When the Maulana Attaulhaq group decided to boycott the election it was not persuaded to review the decision.
Later, Maulana Ali was nominated district chief and Mr Islam general secretary, respectively.
However, Maulana Attaulhaq group declared that the election result was not acceptable to them.
