KARACHI: Karachi Basketball Association (KBBA) on Tuesday named its 12-member squad for participation in the National Basketball B-grade Champi­onship, scheduled to be held in Islamabad from April 10-14.

The team will depart for the federal capital on April 8.

President KBBA Ghulam Mohammad praised the selectors for naming a strong, balanced team for the championship and expressed confidence that it will put up a fine show in Islamabad.

The team will be led by Ali Chanzeb. The other players are Zainul Abideen, Talha Amjad Ali, Mohammad Shabbar, Anas Azhar, Waran Anthony, Tahir Naqqash, Taimur Zaheer, Tashfeen Zaidi, Talal Ahmed, Saad Basit Khan and Kieth Derek Johnson.

The stand-by players include Rajkumar Lakhwani, Hamza Perwani, Hasan Iqbal. Ex-intern­ational player Zahid Malik will be the team coach.

Meanwhile, PSWA Presid­ent Shahida Parveen has donated Rs 25,000 for the team’s expenses.
