SWABI: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has reportedly rejected the allegations of some key leaders that the recently concluded election for the slots of party’s Swabi district president and general secretary were held in a dubious manner, Dawn learnt on Wednesday.

The elections held three days ago were boycotted by the party’s provincial vice chief Maulana Attaulhaq Darvaish, Mufti Chand Bacha and various other leaders.

Maulana Fazal Ali, who is also central vice chief of JUI-F, was elected district chief and Mr Islam general secretary, respectively. Mr Ali, Mr Islam and their supporters claimed they had been elected through the genuine voting process, and that their rivals sensing defeat decided to boycott the process.

Sources said the protesting leaders led by Maulana Darvaish met Maulana Fazlur Rehman in Peshawar and apprised him that the election rules were flagrantly violated by their rivals because prominent leaders were kept deprived of their right to vote.

However, Mr Rehman rejected their allegations, claimed Maulana Ali.

ANP ACTIVIST KILLED: Asfraf Ali, an activist of Awami National Party from Kalu Khan village was killed after he fell from the roof of his house on Wednesday, police said.

He was arranging firewood on the roof of his house when he fell down. He was seriously injured and rushed to Kalu Khan civil hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead.
