Better late than never

This is regarding the story “Better late than never” by Hamza Hafeez (YW, March 9). The story gives us a valuable lesson that preparing for exams at the eleventh hour is always wrong because, in order to pass the exams, one may indulge in negative activities such as cheating and relying on friends to help during the exams.

Instead, we should work hard and be well-prepared for exams. Even if we get fewer marks than others, it will be satisfying that the score is what we actually prepared for and not someone else’s work.

Home alone

This is with reference to the story “Home alone” written by Anusha Randhawa (YW, March 16). It seems the plot of this story has been stolen from two previously published stories, “Alone during a thunderstorms” by Rida Ahmed (published on January 26) and “Haunted house” by Filzah Naveed (published on March 2). The main idea from both the stories has been merged into one story. It is requested to the writer to write her own stories without copying others’ ideas and passing it as her own story.

Apart from that, the idea of a haunted house with the same sort of description has become so boring now and doesn’t catch the readers’ attention because there are no new spooky details given. I request the YW editorial team to stop taking stories which repeats the same ideas.

Nature’s best architects

This is with reference to the cover story “Nature’s best architects” by Muhammad Niaz (YW, March 16).

I agree with the writer that insects and birds are nature’s best architects as they make beautiful dwellings for themselves. Many birds make beautiful nests.

Among all the houses that the writer described in his article, I loved the beavers’ as they make very complex tunnels and the dams.

It was quite fascinating for me to know that all these little animals, birds and even insects are so skilled and hardworking that humans are left puzzled.

The power is within you

This is with reference to the cover story “The power is within you” by Arif Iftikhar (YW, March 9).

The writer talked about privileges for women and the power that lies within them. I agree with the ideas of the writer that women can do everything. Women should speak against injustice, challenge the restrictions on them and reject dominance, only then will the world know the hidden strength and power of a woman.

A prank gone wrong

This is regarding the story, “A prank gone wrong” by Afshan Abbasi (YW, February 23). The story was actually a warning to people to be cautious when playing pranks on others. It can lead to dangerous consequences and make one lose valuable things and relations forever.

It doesn’t matter what you do, because once you have done something wrong or have played a prank which has gone wrong, things may never return to the way they were and you may regret whatever you have done.

Educate the girl child

This is with reference to the article “Educate the girl child” by Laraib Faisal (YW, March 9). I found the article very significant because it contained information about girls’ illiteracy ratio in Pakistan.

While our constitution allows for children to get free primary education, unfortunately, many children are deprived of this basic right due to various reasons.

Many even roam about on the streets doing odd jobs and begging.

I request the authorities to arrange the child/female education awareness sessions in towns and villages throughout the country in which we all should take an active part.

Apart from that, I appreciate the writer for bringing to the attention of readers this crucial problem of our country. Being optimistic, I believe that our country will overcome female illiteracy if we make the effort to help and spread awareness of the importance of female education.
