IG Imam orders inquiry into CTD official's alleged harassment of family in Karachi

Inspector General (IG) of Police Sindh Dr Syed Kaleem Imam on Monday ordered an inquiry into a confrontation between Counter-Terrorism Department's (CTD) Additional Inspector General (AIG), Kamran Fazal and a family in Karachi.
The incident, the video of which has made rounds on the social media, involved multiple police officers asking a man to step out of his vehicle and engage with their "baray sahab" without providing any reason.
The family repeatedly asks why their car had been blocked off and why the AIG is summoning them, to which police officials do not provide any answers.
The family complains of being harassed and asks officials to convey to the AIG that he should approach them instead of asking the male passenger to step out of the car.
After the video of the incident went viral, Sindh IGP Imam today took notice, and ordered deputy inspector general of police (DIG) South to conduct an inquiry.
The IG instructed the inquiry officer to incorporate both the parties' statements and furnish his report within two days.
Meanwhile, AIG Fazal has acknowledged the incident, saying that the family was stopped because "the driver was driving recklessly".
"This incident took place a few days ago. Later on, the matter was resolved," he said, adding that he himself had not stepped out of his vehicle due to "security concerns".

@SSR, Here it’s confirmed that AIG Fazal is a politicized recruit. The international traffic police never ask the driver to come out and talk, the traffic police instead comes to driver after reasonable parking at side, and ask for license & insurance. The IGP Sindh may please issue instructions to all traffic police to respect & honor the commuters, and should approach the violator and ask for papers in decent manner. Road rages can never be a hallmark of professional police.

This is terrorism. He should be stripped of his service and put in jail. He is threatening citizens while armed. If he was so concerned about reckless driving, and it were true, he could have had a ticket issued for reckless driving, but nothing gives him the authority to "summon" a citizen to him.

AIG Fazal should be dismissed with immediate effect, when he is afraid to come out of his car out of security concerns, though he is a servant of the government, and asking the gentleman to come out. As far as the police record is concerned, the police people have a very bad record of creating a crime.

Fault is at both ends, they government should train police with protocols how to approach suspected vehicle. Police can not ask person in vehicle to come out unless some evidence of crime and this should be interrogated or told to the driver.
Police have authority to stop any vehicle at any place at any time if they suspect and its not harresment.

The attitude of civil servants are usually bad with citizen of Pakistan. If IG/Additional IG will apply for the Sergent position in U.S. They could not qualify because they are not skillful in their profession.PSP and most servant from csp group is unprofessional. Why are we uneducated and poorest counties around the world ? Our system is not delivered ,and civil servant from CSP are wasting text payer money. I did not find this type of civil structure around the world.

This happens "only" when you try to lock horns with another elite. The incident would have never come to light, much less gone viral, if a random non elite had been harassed. We are a long way from actually reaching that stage in development. We are still brutally patronised and denigrated by the class that has replaced coloniser for the worst.

This situation is more than terrorism, Most of our friends living in North America feel scary because of this situation, and writing correctly that no one even think that a qualified police officer can act like this. IG Imam must fire this AIG and Govt of Pakistan must release him from govt services immediately. People like these are cancer for the society. So this Additional IG can use Tax payer funded security of half a dozen edgy police constables to and Tax Payer funded SUV's and Police Mobile to attend social gatherings with his family and then has the nerve to block the way of tax payers who provides them this lavish lifestyle. 1. The behavior of AIG Police Kamran Fazal was against the true spirit of Democratic Policing. Which upholds concept of Police Services, Rule of Law and Human Rights of Pakistani Citizens with due respect and dignity.
2. How a public servant of a senior rank can behave so arrogantly to a family to come out of the car on the main road which is equivalent to violation of their privacy, Harassment and abuse of power and authority.
3. If senior officers are behaving in such a arrogant way, what kind of message they would use to give to their subordinate. Normally these senior officers are getting specialized training from abroad but i think our system is too faulty which needs overhauling. We have to get rid of Superiority Complex. Senior Officers should behave as a role model for all police officers to serve the public.

Every Pakistanee knows that the major of the police officials from top to bottom or bottom to top is corrupt, incompetent, criminal, arrogant and uncivilised.
And you know too.
As a federal home minister it is your legal and moral duty to fix up such officials who bring the bad name for police.

Put such officials behind the bars and bring before the court.
