ISLAMABAD: Farhan Mehboob was the only local player to reach the Serena Hotels Huawei International Squash Tournament semi-finals as he beat Kuwait’s Ammar Altamimi 11-5, 11-4, 12-10 here at Mushaf Squash Complex on Monday.

Three other Pakistanis, Tayyab Aslam, Asim Khan and Amaad Fareed were eliminated from the event after losing their respective quarterfinals.Asim lost to Karim Al Fathi of Egypt 11-9, 12-10, 11-6 in a match that lasted 42 minutes while Amaad had to take a 9-11, 11-5, 11-8, 4-11, 11-4 loss against Spain’s Carlos Cornes.

In the last quarter-final, Mohamed El-Sherbini of Egypt beat Pakistan number one Tayyab Aslam in a nail-biting thriller which ended 11-13, 11-9, 11-2, 6-11, 13-11. The match lasted for 91 minutes.
