BAHAWALPUR: In pursuance of the instructions of the Punjab government, the district administration will establish 12 Ramazan bazaars.

A decision to the effect was taken at a meeting held here under the chairmanship of ADC (revenue).

According to a handout, two markets would be set up in the city while one each at tehsil headquarters of Saddar, Bahawalpur, Hasilpur, Ahmedpur East, Khairpur Tamewali, Yazman in addition to Sammsatta and Uch Sharif.

Meanwhile, the district administration has granted permission to hold the oldest Mela Uch Sharif about 70 kilometres from here.

The event could not be organised during previous years due to security reasons. It coincides with wheat harvesting and is commonly known as ‘Fasal katai mela’. It is held from April 12 to 15 and participated in by people from all over the country.

Uch Sharif is known for Hazrat Syed Jalaluddin Shah Bokhari’s shrine and devotees visit it throughout the year.
