PESHAWAR: Recovery campaign against tax defaulters has been accelerated on the directives of Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue, Regional Tax Office, Peshawar, Qaiser Iqbal.

In this connection, assistant commissioner inland revenue Usman Asif while using his legal powers arrested one Suleman Irshad, son of Haji Mohammad Irshad and a resident of Kachi Mohallah, for outstanding tax arrears of Rs10.8 million and put him in the lockup of University Town police station here on Wednesday, according to a press release.

The Regional Tax Office has directed the University Town police for producing the tax defaulter before the assistant commissioner inland revenue on Thursday (today) for further proceedings.

Meanwhile, Qaiser Iqbal and commissioner inland revenue, Peshawar Zone, Abid Mahmood warned the tax defaulters to pay their outstanding tax arrears to avoid action.
