HARIPUR: Two persons were killed in separate road accidents here on Saturday.

The first accident was reported from Julian village in Khanpur tehsil where Toheed Husain Shah was crossing Khanpur-Taxila road when he was hit by a motorcycle, leaving him critically injured. He was taken to the tehsil headquarters hospital, Khanpur, but due to excessive bleeding on the way he succumbed to his injuries.

The second accident was reported from Shah Maqsood area where one Mohammad Sarwar was hit by a speeding car, killing him on the spot.

ANTI-DENGUE EFFORTS: District development advisory committee, Haripur, chairman MPA Arshad Ayub here on Saturday asked the health department to make all-out efforts for combating the seasonal disease of dengue.

He said this during a meeting held with the local health authorities at his office. The MPA was briefed about the measures that the health authorities were taking for protecting the local population from dengue and malaria.

Mr Ayub asked them that with the onset of summer the mosquito’s larva especially that spread dengue fever had been developed in its breeding areas that should be killed at the early stage. He asked the health authorities to chalk out a plan for spray across the district.

He also asked them to arrange dengue awareness campaign in the district. DHQ hospital MS and other local officials were present on this occasion.
