Distrust, discontent and alienation: Kashmir during the Modi years
A corrigendum.
Published
April 17, 2019
On Monday, April 15, 2019, Prism republished from The Wire India a piece titled "Distrust, discontent and alienation: Kashmir during the Modi years". This was an extract from an essay by Indian historian Ramachandran Guha in Re-forming India: The Nation Today (edited by Niraja Gopal Jayal, Penguin Viking, 2019).
The piece was subsequently removed from Prism (and its associated social media pages) due to a misunderstanding arising from miscommunication regarding republishing rights.
You can read the original piece on The Wire India's website here.

It's certainly a balanced article and I'm very hopeful that Kashmiris will be taken care better than before. Their needs are not very different from any other commoner and hope knocking these 2 articles will bring prosperity to the valley.

Its all about Muslims. Ask the people of Jammu and Ladakh and they will tell you that the real problem are the separatists in the kashmir valley. Eliminating the special status for J&K is the only path forward.

The only and only solution for Kashmir is scarping of article 370. As it itself discriminate between Indian citizens of Kashmir and other parts of India. Better to scrap it and bring all Indian Kashmiris to mainstream

Kashmiris lost their plot after the 1993 Kashmiri Pandit exodus. Plain and simple.

@Amol ‘Why not create a research on Baluchistan people for azadi?’
Why not, but since Baluchistan is not under UN resolution, like kashmir is, then lets create a research on Sikh Khalistan, also not on UN resolution. How about it, like with like.

@Faran, No vote in kashmir IOK is credible with an ocvupation army terrorising the local nationals. Only a UN plebiscite will determine a free and fair result, which india evades.

@Malatesh, There is IIT in Odisha. So is NIFT, NIT and a IIM is now planned. Kerala has IIM. Rajasthan has BITs and let's not talk about Goa and Punjab. Their per capita is much higher than the rest of the country.
