KOHAT: The district police have signed agreements with the hospitals and private medical centres for provision of free health facilities to the children and relatives of the 72 martyrs of Kohat police.
District police officer Wahid Mehmood announced this while speaking on the occasion of distribution of Ramazan and Eid packages among the heirs of martyrs at the police club on Sunday. He said all resources were being utilised to take care of the children of the martyrs till they became fully educated.
He recalled that earlier an agreement had been signed with the private schools association to provide free education, books, uniforms and food to the children of police martyrs. Similarly, he said concession would be given to the children of serving policemen in all the private institutions.
He said the heirs of the martyrs could contact the in-charge of the martyrs’ desk in case of any problem.
POWER LOADSHEDDING: Due to excessive loadshedding and low voltage the traders of birds and chicken market are suffering huge losses.
A dealer of birds said that hardly four hours electricity was provided to the bazaar which had only one transformer for 300 shops. He said without fans birds died or became sick. He said UPS systems also broke down due to long duration of power loadshedding. He also complained about low voltage.
The birds dealer said due to hot weather diseases also spread and they lost their costly birds purchased from Quetta and Karachi.
Another chicken seller told Dawn that they slaughtered and kept the chicken in freezers so that the buyers got them without delay, but due to electricity outages the meat got stale.
The traders lamented that it had become habit of Pesco officials that unless a road was blocked or protest was staged they did not remove faults, and demanded separate transformer for the chicken market.
