SWABI: A doctor who had allegedly conducted a wrong surgery on a woman was arrested when the local court rejected his plea for confirmation of bail before arrest here on Saturday.

Talking to mediapersons, Fazal Subhan, a resident of Shahmansoor village, alleged that the operation was conducted by Dr Farman in a private hospital and when the condition of his wife deteriorated he told them to immediately shift her to Peshawar.

He said that after medical checkup the doctor had told him on phone that his wife needed an urgent operation.

The doctor later accompanied them when they rushed her to the Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar. Mr Subhan said that later his wife succumbed to her injuries and he register an FIR in Zaida police station of Swabi because the doctor failed to even visit his residence for condolence.

After this, Dr Farman obtained bail from the local court. However, during hearing on Saturday the court did not confirm his bail and he was sent to judicial lockup. The next hearing of the case will be held on May 15.

PEOPLE’S ISSUES: People on Saturday complained about encroachments and traffic mess in Topi tehsil’s main bazaar.

They were speaking during an open kutcheri held at Topi tehsil municipal administration hall, which was attended by DPO Khalid Hamdani, officials of the district administration and local councillors.

The people complained that the traders had encroached on parts of road in the entire market and made it difficult for the pedestrians to walk. They urged the administration to take practical steps for removal of encroachments. They also complained about traffic jams in main bazaar.

KILLED: A second year student Imran Khan died when he was hit by a tractor trolley on Topi-Ghazi road on Saturday.

The student, who belonged to Hamlet village, was riding a motorcycle when the tractor driver failed to control his vehicle and hit his bike. He died on the spot. An FIR has been registered against the driver in Topi police station.
