BUNER: Jamaat-i-Islami chief Senator Sirajul Haq has termed Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government as risk for the country’s sovereignty, saying key and sensitive posts like State Bank governor and finance adviser were given to International Monitory Fund officials.
Objecting to the appointment of Reza Baqir as governor SBP and Hafiz Sheikh as adviser to PM on finance, he branded them known employees of IMF.
He asked the government to make public terms and conditions for getting bailout package from the fund.
He made the remarks while talking to mediapersons during his visit to Pir Baba to offer Fateha on the death of the mother of JI former district emir Mohammad Hanif.
JI district chief Mohammad Haleem Bacha, general secretary Alam Khan, secretary information Aminur Rashid, district naib emir Abdul Yunas, JI youth wing leaders Ashiq Ali, Abass Shaheen and others were present.
Mr Haq alleged that PTI government had ignored own party leaders and handed over key ministries and other positions to those people who had earlier affiliation with either the Pakistan Peoples Party or the Gen retired Musharraf-led PML-Q.
He said presidential system could not replace parliamentary form of government and accused the government of hatching conspiracy to repeal 18th Amendment. He said any attempt on part of the government to repeal the constitutional amendment and bring presidential system would pose threat to the federation for which the PTI would be held responsible.
Mr Haq claimed that the JI would hold PTI leadership accountable for any attempt against the integrity, solidarity and sovereignty of the country.
He also accused the government of not allowing other political parties to hold meetings ahead of general elections in the merged districts, adding this amounted to pre-poll rigging.
He said the government was pushing masses against the wall by not stopping skyrocketing increase in prices of commodities. He alleged that the Imran Khan’s government had made an underhand deal with other countries, especially China, over CPEC and demanded that ‘each and every deal’ should be made public in the larger national interests.
He claimed that human trafficking from Pakistan to China, especially of girls, was going on.
He claimed that the JI would launch a mass contact campaign after Eid to expose PTI government’s failures. He said that the JI would continue struggle against the rulers through democratic means.
