LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Muzahir Ali Akbar Naqvi on Friday issued stay order against the decision of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s independent adjudicator of de-notifying a member of the PCB Board of Governors Shah Dost from the Quetta Cricket Region, and also issued stay order against the PCB decision of holding fresh elections of the Quetta Region on May 14 to elect new member in place of Dost.
On May 6, PCB adjudicator retired Justice Fazale Miran Chohan de-notified Shah Dost after disposing of an old inquiry about his election as president of the Turbat Cricket Association. In haste, the PCB issued the fresh election schedule for May 14. However, Shah Dost on Friday moved the LHC with the plea that the adjudicator has de-notified him, without hearing him. In his petition Dost also pleaded that he had never been an employee of the government at the time of contesting the elections of the Turbat Cricket Association. On hearing the plea, the Justice issued the stay order against the de-notification of Dost, and on holding fresh elections.
Dost was one of the five members of the BoG, who had raised their voice against the proposed PCB plan of abolishing departmental cricket from domestic structure. The proposed changes also sought to take powers from the BoG members and hand them to PCB’s newly appointed managing director Wasim Khan.
