ISLAMABAD: Recruitment process of over 1,200 officials in the capital police is in final stages to meet the manpower storage and establish a new division with the name: Law and Order.

The posts of constables and ASIs will be advertised on website and national dailies on Sunday, sources told Dawn.

The Cabinet Secretariat and Establishment Division have given go ahead to publication of ads in two national dailies The Islamabad police Information Technology Branch (IPITB) has also been asked to display advertisement as well as application form(s) on official website of ICT police at 8am on Sunday.

A testing service has been hired for selection and recruitment of the 1,262 officials — 18 ASI (BPS-11), 1222 Constables (BPS-7), three Constables Mounted Police (BPS-7), 19 Constable Band Staff (BPS-7) — for the capital police, the sources said.

Spokesman for the police Inspector Khalid Aawn told Dawn that testing service contract had been awarded to National Testing Service (NTS) in a bidding process in which four services participated.

A committee under the supervision of Chief Commissioner Islamabad awarded the contract to the NTS after due process.

The recruitment was taking place to meet the shortage in the capital police and Counterterrorism Force.

Out of the total, 437 officials are being recruited for the Law and Order Division, he added.

Earlier, the finance division endorsed the proposal of the Establishment Division for creation of 437 posts for the new division.

The finance division will release Rs312 million, a senior police officer said, adding that the Law and Order Division is being created for the protection of foreigners, especially Chinese and those engaged in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project.

The Law and Order Division will be raised in four phases.
