LAHORE: Inspector General of Police retired Capt Arif Nawaz Khan has announced introduction of new special modules and short courses to train the police officials to counter terrorism.

During his visit to the Police Lines, Qila Gujjar Singh, on Friday, he said it’s time to eradicate anti-social elements and uphold the rule of the law by creating well-trained police force equipped with the latest professional skills.

Capital City Police Officer BA Nasir, DIG Operations Ashfaq Ahmad Khan, DIG Investigations Inam Waheed, SSP Operationals Ismael Kharak and other senior officers were also present.

The IGP said special modules and special short courses to counter terrorism should be arranged for under-training police officials. He asked the officers concerned to utilise the available resources to provide healthy and hygienic environment in training colleges and schools, paying special attention to recreational activities and sports. He also directed them to hold regular inspection of police stations to facilitate the police employees.

Mr Khan was of the view that the modern world had progressed by following the smart and community policing and imparting advanced training to their police forces.

During his visit to the Resource Management Centre, the IGP appreciated the performance of SSP Headquarters Syed Karar Hussain for digitalisation of equipment and maintaining discipline of the police force. He also examined the security arrangements and the facilities available for the under-training police officials and other projects.

The IGP also offered prayers for the martyrs of the police force. On the occasion, the CCPO briefed the IGP on the performance of Lahore police and major challenges faced by the force.
