KHAIRPUR: Police on Monday solved the mystery of the triple murder that took place a week ago in the house of a primary teacher in Murad Shah Mohallah in the city.
The teacher, Sajjad Larik, had reported to the police on May 6 that some unknown assailants barged into his house and slew his wife, Shahnaz Larik, nine-year-old son, Abdul Basit, and mother-in-law, Surayya Katohar, 63, with a sharp-edged weapon.
Khairpur SSP Umer Tufail Khan told a press conference that it was a blind case for the Shah Latif police. He said he formed a special investigation team led by City ASP Dr Mohammad Imran and during the course of the investigation suspicion gradually grew on Larik.
The police officer said Larik underwent intensive interrogation when evidence collected from the house and a forensic report also pointed finger of suspicion on him. Finally, Larik broke and confessed to have killed his wife and mother-in-law after getting fed up with never-ending tension between him and the two women over domestic issues. He said he had to kill his son out of fear because he was the lone witness to the crime.
Larik was booked and arrested for committing the triple murder.
