MURREE: The leftover areas of Murree town will be provided natural gas soon while ongoing gas projects will be allocated funds.

This assurance was given by Minister for Petroleum Omer Ayub to a delegation headed by Member National Assembly Sadaqat Ali Abbasi.

Khursheed Abbasi, former town nazim Murree and PTI Murree chapter president, told reporters here that the delegation met the minister and demanded supply of gas to the leftover rural areas and provision f funds for ongoing gas projects in Murree.

The MNA briefed the minister about the need of gas not only to facilitate the local population but also protect forest from being cut and used as firewood. Many areas in the town were provided gas during the previous government of the PML-N and earlier by the PPP government. These areas included union councils Mussiyarri, Massot, Namble, Murree, Lower Topa, Gharryal, Kuldanna and Sunny Bank.

But still about 60 per cent of the far-flung areas of Murree are without gas.
