Eid expected to fall on June 5 according to new lunar calendar: Fawad

Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has said that according to the lunar calendar prepared by his ministry, Eid is expected to fall on June 5.
Speaking to the media on Monday evening, Chaudhry said that the calendar has been completed and "will be sent to the Council of Islamic Ideology on Tuesday [today]".
According to the minister, the calendar has been prepared through collaboration between Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco), experts on space and weather experts. He said that members of the CII as well as the moon sighting committee have been invited to view the calendar "so that they understand the extensive working that was done to compile it".
A letter from the ministry to the CII, a copy of which was obtained by DawnNewsTV, confirmed that the lunar calendar had been sent to the council to review. "You are requested to accord your opinion in Islamic perspectives," read the letter, dated May 21. "If some clarification is required, a meeting of religious scholars and scientists may be convened, preferably within 5 days."
Meanwhile, a notification from the Ministry of Religious Affairs was circulated, calling a meeting of the Central Ruiat-i-Hilal Committee on June 4 for the sighting of the Shawwal moon.

Not correct, new moon will be visible on June 3 in Lahore skies at 15-01 pm . The website timeanddate.com has perfect moon location. Eid will be on 4th throughout the world.

A commendable job done by the minister. Lot of resistance is expected from different quarters therefore it is imperative to take them into confidence. Financial markets cannot afford uncertainty of the sighting of moon by applying the old methods.

@Abdul Muqtadir, In Saudi Arabia the moon sighting is decided by calculation method. Their Ruet-e-Hilal meeting is called and advised to announce the calculated date.

Being a muslim and educated with common sense I prefer to go by lunar calculation by renowned global institutes, many of them. But, I will take an exception if mullahs, decide to do everything by moon sighting, i.e., Eid, iftari and sahari on a daily basis. Because it doesn't make sense to wait for Eid moon, and they come up with ifatri and sahoor time month before!

A very simple principle can solve this not so puzzle. If by calculations the elevation of moon is such that it could be seen by naked eye then we can believe the Mullahs otherwise not. They can do all the moon sightings they want.

every year we loose huge sum of money due to conflicting situation regarding start of a new month. i know for fact that he is doing the right thing. i hate PTI but this time he is right N a decorated institute like SUPARCO will produce the best of the best .
