The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) is not in favour of creating another province within Sindh, Prime Minister Imran Khan declared on Friday during a visit to Karachi.
In a meeting with leaders of allied parties, the prime minister said that there would be no need for division in Sindh after the local government system, which has been introduced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, is implemented in the PPP-led province.
The meeting was attended by Leader of the Opposition in Sindh Assembly Firdous Shamim Naqvi, Khurram Sher Zaman, Faisal Vawda, Nusrat Sehar Abbasi and others.
Prime Minister Imran also held a meeting with a delegation of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and assured the business community, which has been rattled by the recent economic jolts, that the government will provide them as many facilities and assistance as possible.
He urged the business community to benefit from the tax amnesty scheme recently announced by the government, Radio Pakistan reported. He also asked the private sector to play its part in economic development and stability.
The delegation during the meeting put forward its recommendations and proposals for economic growth.
Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi and Adviser to PM for Commerce, Textile and Industry Production Abdul Razak Dawood also attended the meeting.
Prime Minister Imran also chaired a meeting to discuss the implementation of the Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme in Sindh so that low-paid citizens can purchase property. The programme is already underway in parts of Balochistan and Punjab.

Who has asked PM to create a new province in Sindh? Is PM responding on to the recent comments of his own appointed Governor of Sindh Imran Ismail? It seems that Imran Ismail and Imran Khan are not on the same page as far as creating a new province in Sindh is concerned.

Will the new LG system alleviate the deprivation of urban educated unemployed youths, will there will no quota system, will there no feudal rages and arrogance on roads, will there be no kidnapping of businessmen, and kidnappers built their huge houses in rural Sindh, PM Imran Khan the urban people have great expectations from you, it seems you are not aware of the gravity of situation.The FPCCI executive members can afford their private security, but what about the common people, the police in metropolitan not policing, instead looting, and in collusion with street criminals. If you can’t give honest discipline administration to metropolitans, than let their be autonomous metropolitan government, but the prevailing betrayal by corrupt individuals cannot continue indefinitely. As we know Karachi is the major revenue generating metropolitan of Pakistan, please also note the overseas Pakistanis Karachiiites too are the major contributors of foreign exchg to Pak.

Imran Khan supports creating a new province out of Punjab and nowhere else. He can easily be defeated in northern and central Punjab by the slogan of united Punjab by PMLN, provided elections are not rigged.

If for the betterment of the country more provinces can be created in Punjab then can also be done in Urban Sindh. Karachi is the economic hub and mini Pakistan, it is not part of Rural Sindh

@Aamir, Right. PM Imran Khan PTI was in favor of Hazara Province, and also Saraiki Province, if any Province is newly formed, remember you have to make a new Province in Sindh too. Afghanistan though smaller than Pak has 34 Provinces, Pak must create more provinces to better serve the population, and deprivation of people they felt. PM IK please don’t be impressed by few feudals
think of millions affectees. The small traders and middle class pay their taxes honestly, on the contrary the feudal class is now proved to be looters, corrupt, and have placed their wealth abroad, PTI should side with the people,not the feudals, who are responsible for present financial crunch in Pak.

We are facing economic crisis due to the stoppage of funds from US for fighting terrorism . The budget was to fight and curtail terrorist activities which the nation is producing the funds by itself. This causes the disbalancing of the funds to run the budget policy. IK is doing everything to stabilise the situation. Let him do the good work.

Atleast make Karachi a directly controlled municipality and controlled from the centre. Just like in China Chonquing, Beijing and Shanghai are controlled from center because of their strategic importance as cities. Karachi Islamabad and Gwadar can be done the same.

As a karachite, i believe only people having domicile from karachi should be allowed in provincial institutions such as police, etc. This is not addressed by imran Khan. Currently all police inspectors those are working in karachi beling to interior sindh. What do they know about community? Also if you go to any department such as nadra, passport office, etc you will reaffirm to what i say.

It doesn't make sense. Karachi is such a huge city with lack of funds. It should be treated at provincial level. Right now it's even struggling with severe water issues and garbage collection.
He should have considered making new province in Sindh so that rest of the Sindh also get some attention along with Karachi.

No talk about division of Sindh. Any effort to divide Sindh, will result in the division of Pakistan, since Sindh was the first constituent assembly of British India, which voted for the establishment of Pakistan. Sindh is Pakistan and Pakistan is Sindh, therefore, its Sindh's unity is linked with the sovereignty of Pakistan.

All growing nations creates new provinces on administrative basis as population grows. The new province will be part of Pakistan. What seems to be the issue? If the name Sindh is important and has sentimental value. We can call it Urban Sindh or Sindh 2 etc. Sooner or later new provinces will be made, it is a natural process. The more we delay it, the more we are going to hurt our country.

I'm a Sindhi, Pakistani. I don't want any division of Sindh. Karachi the most powerful city and the financial hub of Pakistan voted with heavy majority in the favor of PTI. Karachi and Sindhi people by nature are always secular.

Imran Khan's decision is correct.
The people of Sindh will benefit if the province is kelp united.

Imran Khan's decision is in the best interests of the ordinary people of SIndh. Currently, the people of Sindh are being denied their democratic rights of local self-government.. The current Sindh government has kept all local decision-making in their hands at the Provincial level denying the people their constitutional rights , against the spirit of democracy.
The enactment of local self-government law will empower people at the grass- roots levels. So there will be no need for any breakup of the province, because people will be running their own cities, towns, and villages. Sindh must be kept united.

Of anywhere in Pakistan, Sindh should be the first to have new province(s) b/c of distinctly different language, social norms and demographics of its population. Why should only Punjab be awarded this honor? Either constitute new mini-provinces in all other provinces or none. This selective sub-division is discriminatory and not worthy to follow through. Moreover this is not the time to go through with this exercise anywhere. With empty treasury and country running on loans, how can anybody in his right mind even think of this luxury.

Instead the fair distribution of funds for Urban Sindh should be strictly implemented. It is Federal Government’s responsibility to monitor the financial activities of State Government.

As an Urdu speaking child of a proud Mohajir family I reject division of Sindh Province. Instead of division, Federal Government must introduce and implement fair policies and provide equal opportunities to all residents of Interior Sindh including Karachi and Hyderabad. Feudalism must be eliminated and good education system must be provided to all. In no times educated people of Sindh will learn to respect each other and live and let live.

It will far better to manage the current provinces in a better manner. Such old buildings of district sectraits with old furniture's and old rooms, no seats for waiting of public, no files mangement, high rush low number of clerks, with harsh behaviours even no one want to visit their for simple driving licence, while the cantonments are running shops and markets worth of billions.

Why not anew province in Sindh when PTI favors a new one in Punjab? PTI and IK's remarks on tax amnesty schemes are on record when they were in opposition, are those people who are honestly giving tax on salaries and incomes are fools as IK used to say? Instead of legislating to broaden the tax base PTI government is also following steps of their predecessors. I as a Karachiite will not vote for him again.
