The Ministry of Interior on Tuesday announced a four-day holiday on the occasion of Eidul Fitr.
According to a notification issued by the ministry today, June 4-7 (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) will be public holidays.
Earlier, Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry had said that Eidul Fitr would fall on June 5, according to the lunar calendar prepared by his ministry. The final date will be announced by the Ruet-i-Hilal committee.
Eidul Fitr celebrations mark the culmination of the Holy month of Ramazan during which Muslims all over the world observe 30 days of fasting.

Never did Pakistan have eid holidays commencing from the 28th of Ramzan, being the new science & technology minister, should'nt the eid holidays be only for 3 days commencing from the 1st - 3rd of Eid, already the economy is crumbling and in a mess and holidays from tuesday 4th June ending upto 9th june would be a total waste knowing that many company's and govt offices are closed on Sat & Sun.

So much for the committee and website, how do you know when the EID is going to be? Did your committee already see the moon ?

We are a nation that loves long holidays but has no interest in hard work. Eid day or maximum 2 days should be enough. There is no need for the common excuse that 'people have to go to their homes'. Everyone can celebrate the festival wherever they are.

Four days for Eid, shows that government has no understanding what effect it will have on economy. Country should limit total of 12 holidays that should be maximum.

Very few people will enjoy the Eid Holidays because in Naya Pakistan people will have very little money to spend on eid.

Too many holidays, especially in a country where people need to work to take it out of the mess it is in.

@Zulfiqar, I can agree, because all the money has already been taken by Nawaz Sharif and his commrades, and prior to them Zardari and Commrades.

@LAHORI KID,
"Did your committee already see the moon ?"
This is exactly what the minister has been saying all along. We can scientifically foretell whether we can sight moon or not on a particular day, in advance.

@LAHORI KID, The moon does need to be sighted anymore. The scientific calendar makes the moon sighting obsolete.

What an eye wash.
Pakistan always had holidays that were announced based on approximate dates of Eid. If FC is so full of it then why the holiday on 4th?
He admits that based on sighting the date can change. So why all this brouhaha?
PTI is in the habit of twisting and presenting things as if they have done something out of the ordinary. Just like the million trees!!
There's nothing wrong in announcing holidays based on calculations and we should support the action but obviously Eid would be celebrated upon sighting of the moon by naked eye, hence holidays should be announced keeping that in consideration.
In short, public is once again tricked as if something huge has been achieved and the gullible Pakistanis are falling for it as is evident from the comments.
Pakistan is doomed if PTI continues.
