KOHAT: The doctors and paramedics of Shaheed Fareed Khan District Hospital, Hangu, observed a two-hour token strike and closed down the emergency and the OPD to protest against the district nazim for harassing them during a visit to the hospital along with his guards on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, talking to mediapersons, district nazim Ibraheem Bangash said he raided the hospital on the complaints of people and found all doctors and staff absent at 12.30pm. The bathrooms and store were also locked, he added.

“When I went to the office of the MS to lodge complaint he refused to talk to me and asked me to come tomorrow as he is busy in taking interviews for dispensers,” said the nazim, adding the MS did not even shake hands with him.

He said the MS failed to answer why the bathrooms were closed, which troubled the patients and their attendants a lot.

However, MS Haleem ur Rehman along with his colleagues told a press conference that he had filed an application with the district police officer for registration of FIR against the district nazim for his misbehaviour.

He accused the nazim of raiding the hospital and after founding the doctors absent in the staffroom kicked the doors with his guards and used abusive language. He warned of strict action against the doctors and other staff, he said.

Mr Rehman alleged that the nazim was pressurising him for selecting his men in the interviews, and upon refusal, harassed him and adopted illegal tactics.

The MS said he had also reported the case to the director general health.

IMPOSTER ARRESTED: The police arrested an impersonator disguised as an inspector of Inter Services Intelligence during checking on the Indus Highway on Wednesday.

SHO Jarma Kriman Ali said during snap checking they stopped a suspicious person and recovered from him a card of ISI. He was shifted to the police station for questioning. He belonged to Karak. When his bio data was checked from the office he proved to be an impersonator.

GAMBLERS HELD: The city police overturned a party of gambling at a shop on Hangu Highway and arrested seven people along with illegal weapons on Wednesday.

SHO Ayatullah acting on information raided a shop near City Pathak and held seven gamblers and seized Rs11,800 stake money. Two pistols and cartridges were also recovered from them.
