ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

This is with reference to the article “A guide to the ICC Cricket World CUP 2019” by Omair Alavi (YW, May 25). The article was published timely as the friendly matches of the 2019 World Cup have just begun.

I am a huge fan of sports, especially cricket. I agree with the writer’s predictions which seem quite accurate and all the given information in the article was well-researched.

How to craft a draft

This is regarding the article “How to craft a draft” by Muhammad Omar Iftikhar (YW, May 18). The article was well-researched, but I would like to add a few more strategies to write a wonderful and sublime write-up.

Before crafting an argumentative draft, a writer needs to have arguments based on analytical reasoning, otherwise he or she will not state proper ideas and it will never affect the readers.

Likewise, other types of drafting — descriptive, narrative and expository — must be expressed either on ground realities or with the aid of examples. Writing skills are not always inborn, they can be developed through effort. Emergence of ideas is a skill, which could be inborn and could be enhanced with exposure and intensive reading.

Drafting of essays, articles and columns differ from the drafting of applications and letters, and are a different genre. They are to be written in formal structure and need to be stated in a nutshell, expressing the entire motive. On the other hand, essays, articles and columns can be written either in formal structure or in informal structure.

As far as the vocabulary is concerned, a writer must not use bombastic nor inflated words, preferably he or she should use appropriate pool of words in accordance to collocations and connotations.

In addition, he/she must be acquainted with figurative and metaphorical concepts of particular literal words.

A writer should not waste his/her readers’ time by putting aimless stuff, lame-analysis and use of exaggeration technique in their writings. If followed properly, all these guidelines can spruce up one’s writing style.

Lessons learnt from animals

This is with reference to the article “Lessons learnt from animals” by Mohammad Niaz (YW, May 4). I was impressed to read about all the animals, birds and insects described in the article.

We must maintain order and discipline like animals do in their lives and always work in teams like these creatures do.
