Over Rs10bn collected in fund for dams

ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister and Chief Justice of Pakistan Fund for Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand Dams has received over Rs10.56 billion so far.

The countrywide contribution to the fund stood at Rs8.97bn while the remaining Rs1.59bn was contributed by expatriate Pakis­tanis, according to an update issued by the State Bank on Sunday.

Pakistanis living in the US were the topmost among the fellow countrymen in foreign countries who donated Rs564.81m followed by the UK from where a sum of Rs388.69m had been transferred to the dams fund. The fund also received Rs146.32m through the SMS service of cellular companies in Pakistan.

According to details, the top 10 institutional donors include employees of the government of Punjab with a contribution of Rs1.09bn, Pakistan Army Rs582.071m, HQ CWO SPD Rs201.093m, Bahria Town Rs110.12m and PAF with Rs100.28m.
