DERA GHAZI KHAN: Workers of the Pakistan Awami Seraiki Party led by their central leader on Sunday took out a rally and set an effigy of Ranjeet Singh on fire as a mark of their protest against Sikh invasion of Multan on June 2, 1818.
Nawab Muzaffar Khan Sadozai, who is considered hero of Seraiki resistance and defender of Multan, embraced martyrdom on this day.
The party observed a black day and took out a protest rally to commemorate the Sikh invasion of Multan.
The speakers including Khwaja Ghulam Farid Koraija, Ehsan Changwani, Jamshed Kamtar and Akbar Khan Malkani said the establishment of Seraiki province was the need of the hour and it would create balance in the federation.
The proposed province, they said, should comprise 23 districts including Dera Ismail Khan and Tank of KP. Without inclusion of Jhang, Noorpur Thal, Khushab, Mianwali and Bhakkar, they said, the new province would not be accepted.
