KARACHI: Ibrahim Hyderi police on Monday claimed to have arrested a suspect who allegedly killed a teenage boy to take “revenge” from the victim’s elder brother.

Mohammed Arman was found strangled near Namak Karkhana in the area on Saturday night.

Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested the suspect, Rasheedullah, in the Balochabad area of Ibrahim Hyderi, said Malir SSP Irfan Bahadur. The suspect is a neighbour of the victim.

The boy, 13, had left his home on Saturday afternoon saying that he was going to play with his friends. The SSP said that the suspect took the boy on his motorbike to Namak Karkhana, an abandoned place, where with a shoelace he strangulated him to death and fled.

The police arrested him with the help of some witnesses and other evidence.

During the initial probe, the held suspect “confessed” that he had murdered the boy to take revenge from his elder brother.

The SSP said that a feud had been going on between the alleged killer and the victim’s elder brother over some neighbourhood issue for the last six months, which led to the murder.
