ISLAMABAD: The capital administration, Islamabad Police and Capital Development Authority (CDA) have joined hands to ensure smooth flow of traffic on Murree Road during Eid days, Dawn has learnt.

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Hamza Shafqaat said that during Eid celebration, about a million people are expected to cross Murree Road near Bhara Kahu. CDA, ICT and Police, including Traffic are joining hands to ensure that there would be no traffic jams this year during Eid holidays.

CDA will ensure removal of encroachments while police will ensure speedy checking at the pickets, he said.

Magistrates will ensure that no one creates situation, which disturbs the smooth flow of traffic and result into traffic jam, the DC said, adding that traffic police will ensure smooth flow of traffic.

He said he held meetings with officers concerned of the capital police to finalise the strategy, he said, adding civil society had also been requested to support them and inform the traders of Bhara Kahu Bazaar to ensure that there was no illegal parking or encroachments on the main road.

Meanwhile, the Islamabad Traffic Police have chalked out a traffic plan for Chand Rat, in which 300 officials were deployed at shopping centers, shopping Malls, Marakaz, including Aabpara, Super Market, Jinnah Super, G-9 and F-10 to ensure smooth flow of traffic, police said.

Squads have also been constituted to counter stunts on motorcycles.

The ITP officials will remain on duty during the three days of Eid, the police said, adding that they would perform duties at public places, including Daman-i-Koh, Lake View Park, and Shakarparian.
