HARIPUR: A shopkeeper in his 60s was caught and handed over to the local police for allegedly molesting a 10-year-old girl in a remote village of Shah Maqsood union council, police said here on Friday.

The police quoted Munir Hussain Shah of Changi Bandi village as alleging that on the Eid day his daughter went to a shop in the same locality to buy grocery items where the shop owner Tassadaq Hussain molested her.

He claimed that when the girl started crying the shopkeeper took out a knife threatening her that he would slit her throat if she told anybody about the incident.

According to the complainant, his daughter reached home in a bad condition and shared her ordeal with her parents.

After the incident, the area people went to the shop and overpowered the shopkeeper and handed him over to the local police.

After initial medical examination of the victim, the police registered a case against the suspect and have started investigations.
