KARACHI: Abdul Rasheed Jr XI beat Manzoor Jr XI 3-1 in the final to win the President KHA Ramazan Cup Hockey League here at the Dr Junaid Ali Shah-Olympian Hanif Khan KHA Hockey Stadium the other day.

Owais Khan stole the limelight by slamming a hat-trick for the winners while Anas Siddiqui scored the consolation goal for the losers. Three of the four outfits that featured in the tournament were named after eminent former Olympians — Rasheed Jr, Manzoor Hussain Jr and Tauqeer Dar — while the fourth team was Sindh Police.

Former Olympian goalkeeper Ahmed Alam and patron KHA Women’s Wing Asma Ali Shah were the chief guests in the final and gave away the prizes. Appreciating the efforts of KHA, they said it is a role model and others should follow suit. They also lauded the idea of naming the teams after former Olympians in recognition of their efforts.

In the presentation ceremony, Hammad Ayaz was awarded best player of the tournament while Haris Naseer was named the top scorer and Abdullah was picked as the best goalkeeper. Sindh Police coach DSP Abdul Khaliq earned the award of best coach. The fair play trophy was received by Sindh Police captain Hammad Ahmed.
