ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s junior players will be seen in action at several international tournaments in the lead-up to the World Junior Individual Squash Championship set to be held in Kuala Lumpur from July 30.
The juniors will start their preparations for the event with the Asian Junior Individual Squash Championship in Macau from June 26. Pakistan will be defending gold medals in the U-15, U-17 and U-19 categories at the continental tournament.
Second choice junior players will also get the chance to represent Pakistan in the Borneo Junior Open and Penang Junior Open with the events set to start from July 2 and July 9 respectively.
According to a Pakistan Squash Federation official, the body is expecting Pakistan to reach the final stages at the World Junior Individual Squash Championship after failing to make it past the third round in the previous editions.
The official revealed that the players who will represent Pakistan at the aforementioned tournaments have recently returned from Egypt after receiving training there.
He added that these players will continue training at the Pakistan Squash Complex before flying abroad for the events.
