The income tax exemptions announced last year, which had generously excluded everyone with a salary of less than Rs100,000 a month (Rs1.2 million a year) from paying income taxes, have been scrapped.
The PTI government has proposed reinstating taxes on everyone making a salary of more than Rs50,000 a month (Rs600,000 a year). The government has also introduced 11 tax slabs with a progressive taxation rate ranging from 5pc to 35pc of income.
Use the calculator below to calculate your income tax liability and take-home salary for next year.

We will pay lot of tax but this is good step, all developed countries have similar taxation. Govt need to bring tax invaders, like traders and shop owners into tax net, they must pay GST diff on their sale minus GST they paid on purchases. Now we are running a government. Well done PTI, I'm happy to pay tax as long I know it wouldn't be ending up in ruler pocket and that's not happening as long IK is in power... Good luck Kaptaan

It will not be beneficial for government to impose more and more tax on salaried class. Govt. should take action against tax evaders and retailers and include them in tax net because imposing higher tax rate on same number of people will not be beneficial.

Of course, government still need to do more to tax businesses properly but individual still have to be taxed.

Income tax increase is only taxing the already taxed salary class. This is unfair. Aim to get the one’s living in big houses and not paying enough.
One way is to tax people depending on is the ‘value’ of the property they live in. Say 5% every year. Imran Khan can lead the way, by paying 5% tax on his 300 kanal house. Generals/Judges and business people having multiple properties should all pay accordingly.
All luxury items, including air conditioners, cars, overseas travel etc should be taxed at a higher rate.

All of us love Pakistan but aren't ready to sacrifice their money to help this country proper. Every citizen should pay the direct and indirect tax, because the money will be used on ours and the welfare of our kids. Tax is not a burden but a duty as a Muslim and as a human being to pay and contribute in the well-being of the society and people. I hope my people understand their duties and rights.

This increase in the tax rates is preposterous and is forcing all the citizens of Pakistan to become dishonest and hide their incomes. Why?
What about the Senior Citizens who are still working and slaving away to make an honest living?
We senior citizens have been paying taxes to the Governments for the last so many years but still the government does not give any relief to us from taxes.
I would suggest to the government to give at least 30% off to all senior citizens of the age of 70 and over irrespective of their total income.

If you live in countries like the US then you know how taxes are paid. This is what Benjamin Franklin, one of the US founding fathers, had said “Our new Constitution is now established, and has an appearance that promises permanency; but in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.”
Two things are certain, death and taxes.

It is a classic Pakistani practice to seek more without giving anything. We expect the government to facilitate the citizens with all the facilities of the world but we cry and whine when it comes to pay our taxes. The nation won't prosper if we do not stand with it (and standing with the nation means paying your taxes sincerely)
As far as the tax rates are concerned, kindly do a little research about what the tax rates are in the western part of the world.
