HARIPUR: A schoolboy was killed when Hazara Express train hit him near Shah Maqsood, police and eyewitnesses said here on Wednesday.

Sera-i-Saleh police said that Siddiqur Rehman, 8, son of Shafiqur Rehman of Mohallah Lora Chowk, was playing with his friends on the railway track near Lora Chowk level crossing when he unknowingly came in front of Rawalpindi-bound Hazara Express train and got hit. As a result, he was critically injured and died due to excessive bleeding before he could be taken to hospital.

Meanwhile, police claimed to have busted a gang of motorcycle lifters and recovered eight bikes from their possession.

According to SHO Siddique Shah, the motorbike (RIK-2638) of one Noman Nisar of Dobandi Makhan village was stolen from the city police station limits on June 3 and an FIR was registered against unknown thieves.

He said that during investigation Bilal and Aqib were arrested and interrogated. The two detainees allegedly confessed to motorbike lifting and told the police about the stolen ones. He said that the police later recovered eight motorcycles and arrested their four other alleged accomplices.
