KOHAT: The Water Supply and Sanitation Company, Kohat, during a crackdown on commercial and domestic defaulters of water dues, has cut connections to 400 houses and sealed two service stations.
The operation is being led by WSSC manager operations Mohammad Naeem and additional assistant commissioner Murad Khan Hoti. The team also recovered arrears from two service stations.
They also served final notices to the KDA Township to clear the outstanding dues. They also asked the city dwellers to deposit the arrears otherwise action would be taken against them.
The officials said the chronic defaulters included those whose water connections had been transferred from tehsil municipal administration to WSSC three years ago.
POLICE STATIONS IN TRIBAL DISTRICTS: Regional police officer, Kohat division, Tayyqab Hafeez Cheema has said jurisdictions of the police stations and other offices in the newly-merged tribal districts have been determined which will start working within months.
Chairing a meeting on Friday, he said under the directives of the government a strategic wide-ranging crime control and administrative policy had been adopted to complete the set-up within the stipulated six months time. The staff was being selected and trained after which it would be assigned their duties in the tribal areas.
TRADERS WARNED: The Hangu district administration has given July 1 deadline to all sweet and bakery shops to stop using substandard oil and prepare health certificates of all workers in the production units to avoid closure of outlets.
The decision was made at a meeting on Friday attended by assistant commissioner, Shahid Rafique, district food controller Silahuddin Khan, assistant food controller Shahid Ali and representatives of associations of businessmen and bakers.
The assistant commissioner said owners of sweet and bakery outlets should ensure proper uniform, wearing of gloves by the staff and maintain cleanliness, otherwise heavy fines would be imposed on them and they would be sent to prison.
POLIO ERADICATION: Focal person for polio, Hangu district, Dr Ahmed Amin has said the propaganda against polio vaccination by some elements was proving detrimental to the cause which can only be fought through collective efforts by the educated and responsible people.
He was speaking at a meeting at the Bar Council Hall on Friday attended among others by district health officer Dr Sameen Jan, president bar council Hassan Khan and others.
Dr Amin called upon the lawyers’ community to come forward and take active part in removing reservations of the people about the vaccine.
He said the role of lawyers, ulema and civil society could not be undermined in polio eradication.
Bar president Hassan Khan said there was need to reach out every home in the polio campaign to cover every child.
