Pakistan must win all four of their remaining group games to have any chance of reaching the World Cup semi-finals, all-rounder Imad Wasim has said after his team's defeat by arch-rivals India on Sunday.
India, who won by 89 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis method, have seven points and occupy third place in the standings behind Australia and New Zealand, while Pakistan are second-bottom with three points from five games.
“This was a really, really disappointing result for us,” said Wasim, who came in at number seven and struck an unbeaten 46 off 39 deliveries.
“When we came back on after the rain there was very little we could do, but we know we have four matches left and if we win those, we still have a chance.
“Results of the other countries may come into play. From our point of view, we can only do what we can. What is in our hands is to try to win all four games and take it from there.” Pakistan face South Africa at Lord's on Sunday before wrapping up their group campaign with matches against New Zealand, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

The only match Pakistan has won in this tournament is batting first - but the scar of batting first against the WI clouded his judgment and scared him . I am 40 years and have never seen Pakistan chasing And winning. What was Mr Sarfrwz thinking when he decided to bowl first? Secondly, this guy is the worst captain in history of Pakistan cricket, his body language is always apologetic and he shy’s away from press and crowed. You can’t win matches with this attitude. it was pure luck that the team had won a few matches under him, perhaps the other teams were playing terrible in those particular days. Third, our coach needs to be sacked, what kind of motivation is that “if you win a Match against India, you will be hero”? Are you kidding me?

There should be now strict accountability process introduced in our sports organisations also.The enquiry commeettee should be headed by a Supreme court ex-judge to find out the reasons of contineous defeats, humiliations and at times unproffessional and illegal activities of our players broad which bring bad name to the country instead of victory. Taxpayers money is being spent on those players training during these testing times when they find difficulty to meet their own children's health education and other expenses. The purpose of such sacrifices is to expect professional, disciplined and best performance from every player. Nothing else. If they could not come up to the expectations then there should be cleansing in every sports and sports organisations. Introduction of honest new and young blood is the need of the time for revival of Sports in Pakistan.

The reality is that the team is conspiring against Sarfaraz Ahmed. Shoaib Malik, Imad Wasim, Baber Azam, Imam Ul Haq, Asif Ali and Hassan Ali have formed a group under the supervision of Inzimam Ul Haq they are absolutley against Sarfaraz and are systematically sabotaging the team. The script has already been written to remove Sarfraz after the World Cup. Prime Minister Imran Khan should take immediate notice. To be honest, a world cup should go to a team that remains consistent and deserves that tag.
The format is such that anybody can sneak in (remember 1992), win two matches and call themselves the World Champions, however, in the true sense, a world champion should be one that has played like the champion throughout, not stumbling through using technicalities. And that is why I believe the current top half in the points table is the actual deserving of an opportunity at the cup.
For me, the mighty West Indies of the 70s and Aussies of the 2000s were the real world champions. Today, its more of a tie between 3-4 teams, I need not name them.

Pak teams will never win if they play for their own self and for their families. Coming from very humble background, they get pretty good amount, which they cannot even dream of in normal circumstances, hence, they do not care win or loose, they get their salary etc; which normally they cannot even think off. 2) the game has become so scientific, with the teams educational background, they are unable to strategize & plan professionally, which was evident from India`s strategy to contain Amir, which proved right, hence, they could score high run rate. Day in day out we shout that our team need to improve fielding, yet they feel that in cricket, only good bowling & batting is enough. 3) the team is not discipline, evidence from late night outing a day before a very important match. 4) the team is least bothered about their fitness & diet. Unless strict regime is not followed & focus is not on fielding,this game will also disappear, like hockey, tennis & Squash.
