PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police chief on Friday transferred deputy inspector general of police Mohammad Karim Khan and appointed him capital city police officer (CCPO) Peshawar.

A notification issued here said the police chief under section 17(4) of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Act 2017 transferred CCPO Peshawar Qazi Jamilur Rehman (BS-20) and posted him DIG special branch.

Karim Khan (BS-20) was working as DIG special branch.

A police statement said Mr Khan took charge of CCPO office on Friday evening. It said that Mr Rehman congratulated Mr Khan on being appointed as the city police chief. Mr Khan was also introduced with officials of city police.

Meanwhile, the government on Friday also transferred secretary forests Syed Nazar Hussain Shah (BS-20) and directed him to report to the establishment department. Mr Shah had long been serving as secretary forests, environment and wildlife department and also oversaw the execution of the PTI’s flagship Billion Tree Tsunami project.

Shahidullah, (BS-19), project director IMU education department, has been transferred and posted secretary forests.

Mr Shah’s removal came at a time when province’s forests have seen a string of fires over past several weeks and as per media reports more than 90 such incidents have taken place.
