SWABI: The Women University Swabi (WUS) on Monday postponed the BA/BSc examinations, sources in the varsity told Dawn here on Monday.

They said the examinations were postponed because the parents had warned that they won’t allow their daughters to travel long distances from Yar Hussain to take examinations at the examination centre established at the varsity.

The examinations were scheduled to commence on Monday and all the arrangements had been made for the girl candidates of all the affiliated colleges of the varsity.

When contacted, an official said: “Yes, this (refusal of some of the parents) was the reason behind examination postponement.”

Another official said the controller was forced by the circumstances to immediately issue a notification about postponement of the examinations on Monday as this could not be done on Sunday being the holiday.

The notification was addressed to the principals of all affiliated colleges.

The notification said that the fresh schedule for the examinations would be notified later.
